Timber is kiln-conditioned to 8-12% moisture over a 4-week cycle; apron-to-leg connections use 16 mm tenon-depth mortise-and-tenon joints reinforced with bamboo dowel pins; and the hand-carved floral and geometric apron motif (approximately 14 carving hours per table) adds cultural authenticity. Inlaid Stone Tabletop Detail

The tabletop features a natural grey-veined stone panel set into a solid rosewood frame. The stone is selected for its heat resistance and moisture resistance, making it ideal for repeated contact with hot teapots and water spillage during tea service. The stone panel is set into a recessed groove in the rosewood frame, allowing the wood to expand and contract with humidity changes without cracking the stone or the frame.

Hand-Carved Apron Detail

The apron beneath the tabletop features a traditional Chinese floral and geometric motif, hand-carved in shallow relief at 2-3 mm depth. Each apron section requires approximately 14 carving hours. The carver uses chisels ranging from 2 mm to 8 mm width, with the flowing floral curves being the most technically demanding element because they require continuous, smooth cuts along the grain without splintering the dense rosewood.

Manufacturing Workflow

This square tea table follows a four-stage production sequence:

• Stage 1 - Timber Heartwood Selection: Siamese rosewood boards are inspected for heartwood ratio. Only boards with a heartwood percentage exceeding 80 percent proceed to this product line.

• Stage 2 - Kiln Conditioning: Selected timber is kiln-dried to 8 to 12 percent moisture content over a 4-week cycle with gradual temperature ramping. A 48-hour equalization period follows.

• Stage 3 - Frame Joinery and Stone Inlay: Mortise-and-tenon joints are cut to 16 mm tenon depth on the apron-to-leg connections. The stone panel is set into a recessed groove in the rosewood frame. Bamboo dowel pins reinforce all joints.

• Stage 4 - Apron Carving and Six-Coat Lacquer Finishing: The floral motif is carved after frame assembly. Six coats of raw lacquer are then applied by hand, each cured for 24 hours and rubbed with pumice stone.

Quality Inspection

• Heartwood Ratio Verification: Each board is visually inspected for sapwood percentage. Boards exceeding 20 percent sapwood are diverted to other product lines.

• Joint Stress Test (in-house QC procedure): Assembled tables are sampled at 15 percent per production batch and loaded with 60 kg of distributed weight for 24 hours. Pass criterion: no visible joint separation after the full 24-hour load period; any sampled table showing joint separation is re-fitted and re-tested before packing. This is an internal production check conducted under our own workshop procedure; no third-party or numbered-standard test report is currently available for this model, and buyers who require certified test data should raise this at inquiry.

• Stone Inlay Fit Check: The stone panel is inspected for secure seating within the rosewood frame groove. Any panel that shifts is re-set.

• Carving Relief Depth Check: Apron relief depths are verified with a depth gauge at five points per apron section.

• Moisture Audit: Three-point readings per table. Readings outside 8 to 12 percent require re-conditioning.

Export Packaging and Documentation

The tea table is wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and corrugated cardboard, then packed in an ISPM-15 heat-treated wooden crate with EPS foam corner blocks. Gross weight per crate is approximately 40 kg. Every shipment includes CITES export permits, a commercial invoice with HS code 9403.60, and a wood drying certificate; the FSC chain-of-custody certificate will be added to shipment documentation once certification is completed.
