Each of these costs the buyer directly — a cracked 150 cm top means a full replacement, loose chairs mean on-site repairs against your margin, and a finish that cannot pass food-contact review can hold up a restaurant opening entirely.

This set is built against those three failure points. The 150 cm round tabletop uses Siamese rosewood (Dalbergia cochinchinensis) boards selected for straight grain and kiln-dried to 8-12% moisture, sitting on a four-rail mortise-and-tenon apron frame that spreads sitting load to all four cabriole legs instead of concentrating it at the centre. Chair frames are joined with mortise-and-tenon at the seat-rail to back-post junction and reinforced with bamboo dowel pins. The glossy lacquer topcoat is formulated to meet FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for repeated food contact; a third-party food-contact test report can be provided with the quotation, and an EN 71-3 coating test report is available on request for European projects. Every chair is load-tested with 100 kg for 24 hours and every backrest slat grip-tested before packing, with per-piece test records available on request. The set carries a 24-month structural warranty covering joinery failure and frame cracking under normal indoor use.

The Ming-style round design uses four curved cabriole legs splayed outward to the floor at a calculated angle, carrying the tabletop weight without a centre pedestal. This leg geometry leaves the area under the table open, so all eight chairs can be tucked fully underneath when not in use. The chair backrests use the classic open-slat Ming pattern, cut and fitted by hand in our Xianyou workshop.

Food-Safe Lacquer Finish

The entire set receives a glossy lacquer topcoat formulated to meet FDA 21 CFR 175.300 food-contact requirements. This is the compliance point US importers and Canadian buyers raise most often during procurement, because a dining table surface touches food directly. A third-party food-contact test report covering the current lacquer formulation can be provided with the quotation; the report applies to the coating batches used for this product line under the test conditions stated in the report itself. Five lacquer coats are applied in a controlled-dust spray booth, sanded between coats, then polished to a mirror gloss that shows the rosewood grain underneath.

The lacquer base is a nitrocellulose and polyurethane blend cured at room temperature. The cured surface tolerates short local contact with hot items at 60 to 70 degrees Celsius; hot items above this range — pots straight from the stove, for example — should always be placed on a trivet or heat pad, as prolonged contact above this range may leave marks on the finish. For European buyers, an EN 71-3 test report for the coating can be provided on request; EN 71-3 is a coating migration standard under the Toy Safety Directive, so it is offered as an additional test report rather than a mandatory furniture certification.

Production Process

This set follows a five-stage manufacturing sequence:

• Stage 1 - Timber Selection and Drying: Siamese rosewood boards are inspected for grain straightness and kiln-dried to 8 to 12 percent moisture content with a 48-hour equalization period. A moisture meter reading is recorded per board before production.

• Stage 2 - Round Tabletop Construction: The tabletop is assembled from edge-joined boards using bamboo dowels along the join line. The joined top is planed flat, sanded to 320-grit, and the round profile is cut using a template-guided bandsaw.

• Stage 3 - Frame and Joinery: Table apron rails are connected to cabriole leg posts using 18 mm tenon-depth mortise-and-tenon joints. Chair seat rails use 16 mm tenons at the back-post junction. All joints are fitted dry before glue application.

• Stage 4 - Slat Fitting: Chair backrest slats are hand-fitted to the rail mortises using the traditional Ming friction-fit method. No glue is used in the slat-to-rail connection; the slat is held by friction and rail compression.

• Stage 5 - Lacquer Application: Five coats of glossy lacquer are applied in a dust-controlled spray booth, with sanding between each coat. The final coat is polished to a mirror gloss meeting FDA 21 CFR 175.300 food-contact requirements.

Quality Inspection

• Tabletop Flatness: A straightedge is placed across the tabletop at three points. Gaps exceeding 0.8 mm trigger re-planing.

• Joint Load Test: Each chair is loaded with 100 kg of static weight for 24 hours. Any joint showing visible separation is re-fitted. Per-piece test records are available on request.

• Slat Fit Check: Each backrest slat is grip-tested by hand. A slat that can be removed with less than 5 kg of pull force is re-fitted.

• Moisture Audit: Three-point readings per piece using a pin-type moisture meter. Readings outside 8 to 12 percent trigger re-conditioning.

• Finish Inspection: Surface inspected under 5000K LED lighting at 30 cm distance. Runs, sags, or uncured spots are reworked.

Care and Maintenance

• Always place hot cookware on a trivet or heat pad. The lacquer surface tolerates short local contact at 60 to 70 degrees Celsius; prolonged contact above this range may leave marks.

• Wipe spills promptly with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads on the polished lacquer surface.

• The timber is dried to 8 to 12 percent moisture content for indoor use. Extreme dryness or dampness in the installation space can cause movement in solid wood panels, so maintain normal indoor humidity where possible.

Packaging and Export Documentation

The set ships in two crates: one for the tabletop and legs, one for the eight chairs stacked in pairs. Each piece is wrapped in non-woven fabric with EPS foam corner blocks. Crates are ISPM-15 heat-treated. Packaging is drop-tested in-house from a height of 1 metre on all six faces, and the internal test records can be provided on request. Total gross weight is approximately 155 kg. Every shipment includes CITES export permits, the FSC chain-of-custody certificate for this product line, commercial invoice with HS code 9403.60, and a wood drying certificate.
