The headboard panel is a solid Siamese rosewood board, not veneered or finger-jointed, set into a grooved frame that allows it to expand and contract with humidity changes. The bed frame uses mortise-and-tenon joints at the post-to-rail connections, secured with wooden dowels. The slat base sits recessed into the side rails and supports a standard innerspring or latex mattress without a box spring.

Mattress compatibility: the slat base at 90 mm centres is designed for a standard innerspring or latex mattress used directly on the slats, with no box spring required. Hand-Cut Dovetail Dresser Drawers

The dresser features three drawers with hand-cut half-blind dovetail joints at the front corners and through-dovetails at the rear. The dovetail pins are cut at a 1:6 ratio, which is the traditional Chinese furniture standard for hardwood drawers. Drawer bottoms are set in grooved sides and slide on wooden runners, not metal slides. This construction method allows the drawer to be repaired without disassembling the dresser case.

Dresser and Mirror Detail

The dresser top carries an attached mirror in a carved frame, with openwork scroll and floral detailing along the lower and side edges of the frame. The three drawer fronts are fitted with turned wooden knobs, and the six-coat satin raw lacquer surface is polished to a soft reflection rather than a mirror gloss; the satin sheen visually softens minor handling marks in daily service.

Manufacturing Process

This set follows a four-stage production sequence optimized for compact bedroom configurations:

• Stage 1 - Board Density Sorting: Siamese rosewood boards are sorted by air-dry density using a precision balance. Boards within a density range of 0.90 to 1.00 g/cm³ are grouped for this set to ensure consistent structural response across the four pieces.

• Stage 2 - Component Cutting and Grain Matching: Headboard panels are selected for boards with the tightest interlocked grain. Bed posts are cut from the straightest timber sections. Dresser rails and nightstand stiles are cut with a tolerance of plus or minus 0.3 mm.

• Stage 3 - Joinery and Assembly: Bed frame post-to-rail connections use 18 mm tenon-depth mortise-and-tenon joints. Dresser rail-to-leg connections use 16 mm tenons. Drawer dovetails are cut by hand. Nightstands are assembled with dovetail drawer boxes and floating-panel sides.

• Stage 4 - Carving and Finishing: Headboard panel and dresser drawer fronts are sanded to 400-grit. Six coats of raw lacquer are applied by hand, each cured for 24 hours and rubbed with pumice stone. The final coat achieves a satin sheen.

Quality Inspection

The checks below are internal quality-control procedures carried out in our Xianyou workshop on every set before packing. Inspection and test records for your production batch can be provided upon request with the quotation.

• Density Verification: Key structural boards are re-weighed and measured before assembly to confirm the air-dry density of the selected timber falls within the 0.90 to 1.00 g/cm³ range set at Stage 1.

• Bed Frame Load Test: The assembled bed frame is loaded with 150 kg of distributed weight for 24 hours. Any joint showing separation is re-fitted.

• Dovetail Fit Check: Each drawer is cycled 50 times on its runner. Any drawer binding or loosening is re-fitted.

• Moisture Audit: Three-point readings per piece using a pin-type moisture meter. Readings outside 8 to 12 percent trigger re-conditioning.

• Finish Inspection: Surface inspected under 5000K LED lighting at 30 cm distance. Runs, sags, or uncured spots are reworked.

Packaging and Export Documentation

The bed frame ships flat-packed (posts, rails, headboard, and slat base separated) in one crate. The dresser, mirror, and two nightstands ship fully assembled in a second crate. All packaging uses ISPM-15 heat-treated timber with EPS foam corner blocks. The two crates total 1.2 cubic metres and 130 kg gross; these figures are inclusive of the ISPM-15 timber crates and EPS foam protection. Whether additional pallets are added at loading is not fixed in the standard packing spec — confirm pallet requirements with us when requesting a freight quote so the figures match your forwarder's calculation. Every shipment includes CITES export permits, FSC chain-of-custody certificate, commercial invoice with HS code 9403.60, and a wood drying certificate.

Installation and Care

The bed frame arrives flat-packed with posts, rails, headboard, and slat base separated; the dresser, mirror, and nightstands arrive fully assembled. Assembly of the bed frame uses the mortise-and-tenon joints and wooden dowels supplied, and the slat base drops into the recessed side rails — no metal fasteners are needed for the frame structure. Two people are recommended for the headboard and rail alignment.
